MICHELLE BACHMANN: A Covenant to Slit Our Wrists....

Speaking to the conservative group, Independence Institute, at a fundraiser in Colorado, Michelle Bachmann (R-Minn.) had this to say in reference to health care reform:

This cannot pass.What we have to do today is make a covenant, to slit our wrists, be blood brothers on this thing. This will not pass. We will do whatever it takes to make sure this doesn’t pass.

Slasher movie, anyone?

Right now, we are looking at reaching down the throat and ripping the guts out of freedom. And we may never be able to restore it if we don’t man up and take this one on.

MICHELLE BACHMANN: SBHC and THE BAD SEX CLINICS

Michelle Bachmann (R-MN) has decided that health care reform will open up the schools for.....SEX CLINICS!

She has apparently interpreted a section in the bill as relating to "school based health clinics" (SBHC), to mean that schools will be offering abortions to students. Bachmann:

The bill goes on to say what's going to go on -- comprehensive primary health services, physicals,

treatment of minor acute medical conditions, referrals to follow-up for specialty care -- is that abortion? Does that mean that someone's 13 year-old daughter could walk into a sex clinic, have a pregnancy test done, be taken away to the local Planned Parenthood abortion clinic, have their abortion, be back and go home on the school bus that night? Mom and dad are never the wiser.

Section 2511 of the bill Bachmann refers to, does not mention abortion. It further states/enjoins: 

SBHC services will be provided in accordance with Federal, State, and local laws governing-- (I) obtaining parental or guardian consent; and (II) patient privacy and student records, including section 264 of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 and section 444 of the General Education Provision Act.

The concept of "school based health care clinics" was introduced under the notion that students achieve higher academic performance when they are healthy and receive adequate medical attention. According to the National Assembly on School-Based Health Care, if implemented SBHCs would give schools access to physicians "so students avoid health-related absense and get support to succeed in the classroom."

Seriously, Bachmann has some sanity issues.

Grassley Flip-Flops on Death Panel Claims

On August 7, during a town hall meeting in Iowa, Grassley endorsed the right wing's false claim of death panels.

 There is some fear because in the House bill, there is counseling for end-of-life," And from that standpoint, you have every right to fear. You shouldn't have counseling at the end of life. You ought to have counseling 20 years before you're going to die. You ought to plan these things out. And I don't have any problem with things like living wills. But they ought to be done within the family. We should not have a government program that determines if you're going to pull the plug on grandma.

Today, Sunday, August 23, on Face the Nation, Grassley admitted that the government wouldn't be pulling the plug on grandma.  He admitted that the legislation didn't include the outrageous death panel provision that would allow the government to determine who should live or die. [fabrication by completely transparent Republican tools]

 I know the Pelosi bill doesn't intend to do that. It won't do that

Wally Herger Calls Self-Described "Right Wing Terrorist" a "Great American"

At a town hall meeting on August 18 in Redding, California , Rep. Walter William Herger, Jr., speaking of healthcare reform and President Obama, intimated that the President, and/or his policies, are a threat to Democracy. [where was this loser when Bush 43 threw the Constitution in the toilet?]

 Our democracy has never been threatened as much as it is today.

And in another example of the craziness promoted by the far right, including people such as Wally Herger, at the same town hall, and in response to a man who said “I am a proud right wing terrorist.”, Herger had this to say:

 Amen, God bless you. There is a great American.

Your tax dollars at work.

What an absolutely beautiful day it is, and it is my honor to speak to all Alaskans, to our Alaskan family this last time as your governor. And it is always great to be in Fairbanks. The rugged rugged hardy people that live up here and some of the most patriotic people whom you will ever know live here, and one thing that you are known for is your steadfast support of our military community up here and I thank you for that and thank you United States military for protecting the greatest nation on Earth. Together we stand.

And getting up here I say it is the best road trip in America soaring through nature's finest show. Denali, the great one, soaring under the midnight sun. And then the extremes. In the winter time it's the frozen road that is competing with the view of ice fogged frigid beauty, the cold though, doesn't it split the Cheechakos from the Sourdoughs? And then in the summertime such extreme summertime about a hundred and fifty degrees hotter than just some months ago, than just some months from now, with fireweed blooming along the frost heaves and merciless rivers that are rushing and carving and reminding us that here, Mother Nature wins. It is as throughout all Alaska that big wild good life teeming along the road that is north to the future. That is what we get to see every day. Now what the rest of America gets to see along with us is in this last frontier there is hope and opportunity and there is country pride.
